Comments:

Situated in a very unusual location actually underneath and behind the Stratosphere sports book monitors sits the Strat Poker Room.

It’s obvious that this “room” was originally designed for a completely different purpose (basically a large hole in the sports book wall), but it was eventually decided to put some poker tables in there and start up a room.

That being said, while certainly not the Venetian, poker is played here. You may not feel that you are in opulent surroundings, but winning a pot is winning a pot is winning a pot. I’d much rather catch good cards here than bad cards at the Bellagio.

The room is small and maybe a bit cramped, but the staff is friendly, and the few times I have played there, the players were amiable and were in the solid average range. Not a whole lot of fish, not a whole lot of pro’s. Almost like a home game … in a casino. They do have jackpots (bad beat, high hand, etc) and they do host two daily tournaments.

While I don’t usually go out of my way to play at the Strat, if I happen to be there, then I have no qualms about playing this room. Poker is poker.

I would certainly recommend this room if you are staying at the Stratosphere, but I probably wouldn’t recommend traveling to it from another property.

It’s a fine room, just nothing out of the ordinary … other than the odd location of the room itself … literally “A Hole in the Wall”.
