Average food at an average price. We tried Hilton’s brunch buffet on Saturday (9-23-06) for the first time and it will be our last. The service was poor, the orange juice was watered down, the food quality was mediocre, and for $16.99/per the quality just didn’t match up. We should have tried a non brunch instead and paid less, especially since we don’t drink alcohol, so the extra charge for Champagne was a waste. The broccoli in the Chinese section smelled strange, like it was going bad. Our waiter’s shift was over so during the middle of our meal, about 20 minutes after being seated, he frequently returned to our table to retrieve his tip. We felt this was a bit rude, for he shouldn’t have been so pushy. Also, the nearest restroom was at the rear entrance which is on the opposite end of the buffet. Our younger daughter (2 years old) had to use the restroom and it took at least 10 minutes round trip. What a PIA. It seems like the Hilton just had a buffet in their hotel just to say they had one.

Well, we returned to this buffet to try out their dinner. We actually had nothing to lose because my husband received a complimentary dinner for the family due to being a regular in their poker room. Anyway, we decided to give it another try. BTW, I’m due anytime now with our third daughter.
The first thing that was very different, was the service. This time we had an elderly woman serve us, and she was definitely more attentive with our needs. She cleared plates almost immediately. I also liked the fact that they left many extra paper napkins on the table, just in case. The dining area was pretty bare, but then it was Tuesday night, and there was no major convention in town. The food selection was a little better, although the food quality remained the same. They didn’t have any crab legs. But, they had the usual cold shrimp with cocktail sauce and raw oysters (which I couldn’t sample).
Our dining experience was far better than the last due to better service, but the food pretty much remained the same. The only major negative feedback was that my husband had an allergic reaction to something, but we couldn’t pinpoint it. The only things that he had that the rest of us didn’t were food from the salad bar and the cold shrimp. So you were warned.
We will not be returning to this buffet again, even if comped.
