The M Resort Blimp
That’s what has been circling the Las Vegas skyline for the past week or so.
I finally got a little bit of video of the thing last night. It looks like it has something to do with the “M Resort” that is opening next year.
I was only able to ascertain that by using a zoom lens and seeing two big cursive “M”’s on the thing.
The text on the marquee is a little hard to see. In my opinion, it flies too fast, and far too high for the casual observer on the ground to see what is going on.
What surprises me most about the thing, is that it flies right past the end of the McCarran airport runways near the Mandalay Bay.
I have no idea how they coordinate that to avoid a disaster. I can’t take a pair of fingernail clippers on an airplane, but I can fly a giant advertising blimp over the active runway …
Then again, maybe I just answered my own question as to why it flies so high.
