Does The Monorail Go To The Mandalay Bay?
I get this question from time to time when I mention that I take the Monorail to the Mandalay Bay to play poker.
The answer is: No, the Monorail does not go to the Mandalay Bay.
But it gets close enough for me.
When I go to the Mandalay, I typically take the Monorail to the MGM Grand station, walk through the casino, take the overpass to the Excalibur, then hop on the Tram.
The Tram used to stop at the Luxor as well, but for some reason, it usually bypasses the pyramid now.
The Tram is a huge convenience for me, because the walk from the intersection of Tropicana and LVB … to the Mandalay Bay casino floor, is longer than it looks
So, if you want to go from say … the Sahara to the Mandalay Bay, you can do it by rail, but you will need to transfer.
The walk between the two stations is about 10 minutes.
The first train costs $5 ($1 for locals), the second one is free.
I took a video of my last trip on the Mandalay Tram, so feel free to hit “play” on the video above and ride along with me back to the Excalibur.
If you want the full, authentic experience, put your hands up and scream “Wheeeeeeeeeeee!” while you are watching it.
Every now and then, I do exactly that.
Sometimes I enjoy being part of the entertainment for the tourists … although I can never tell if they are laughing with me … or at me.
I suspect it’s the latter.
