Happy July 4th
The Fremont Street Experience chose Independence Day Eve to launch its brand new show … Don McLean’s “American Pie”.
This show was actually somewhat of a big deal, because it has been very highly anticipated for awhile.
I heard at the last minute that the premiere of this new show would be at 9:00pm last night (July 3rd), and I attended the very first presentation.
They usually dim the lights slowly so that you know the show is starting, but this one started very abruptly, with no notice whatsoever, and seemed to catch everyone by surprise a little bit.
However, as are all of the Fremont Street Experience shows, this one was just great. Possibly one of the best ones yet.
The song itself is a bit melancholy (the song is loosely based on the untimely death of Buddy Holly), and was maybe a slightly unusual choice for July 4th … but it’s a great, classic tune … and the graphics were spectacular.
I was pleasantly surprised.
It was immediately followed by “This is Our Country”, which I also have on the video above.
Enjoy, and have a safe and happy 4th of July.
