VegasRex Choreographs The Bellagio Fountains!

posted in Las Vegas |

Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Ave is an intersection that I frequent on a regular basis, so it would be impossible to calculate the number of times I have seen the Bellagio Fountains.

They have become part of the background scenery and are often in my periphery somewhere.

When you live someplace long enough, that just happens. New Yorkers don’t take the Ferry out to the Statue of Liberty very often. They just kind of know it’s out there.

Human nature.

I’ve also heard every fountain song so many times, that I kind of don’t want to hear them anymore.

“Luck be a lady tonight, blah, blah, blah” it was interesting the first 247 times, but now that song is like Chinese water torture to me.

When I hear it while walking by, I will often sing along to the song.

“Fuck me a lady toniggggghhhhhht!”

Few people notice what I am actually singing. They just smile and must think that I am really into Sinatra tunes.

Anyway, at this point I am one of the few people that now walks down the Boulevard with earphones on.

It really makes the day much more pleasant, because I also don’t really hear anyone shouting “Vegas, Baby!” or some other tired quote from an inane movie or tourism slogan. It really does help me keep my sanity.

And being that I have seen and heard every aspect of every show, the earphones actually make the Bellagio Fountain Show much more entertaining to me.

Why?

Because now every time I see the show, I see it choreographed to a completely different song. The possibilities are virtually endless.

I think this “choreograph your own” show concept would really be an interesting concept for the Bellagio.

Maybe some kind of “jukebox” at the railing where people can feed twenty bucks into a machine and choose Britney Spears or Lynard Skynard or whatever … then they could play the song over the PA, and just shoot off a completely random water show.

Sure, the song and the fountains wouldn’t match up … but let’s be honest for a moment … they don’t anyway.

They don’t really sync.

It’s all in your head. Your brain just puts it together somehow.

That’s how I got the idea for this video. I was walking along this weekend, and happened to be listening to my headphones when a show went off.

I’m going to go over to the Bellagio sometime this week and offer my services to put together some fountain shows for them.

If they decline … well … I’ll do it anyway.
