Sand Storm

Las Vegas Dust Storm

All of sudden, the wind whipped up , temperatures dropped about 10 degrees, and again, I had to seek shelter indoors because of the sandstorm.

This is what it looks like as of right now.

If the wind catches me at the right angle, it stings my eyes quite a bit, and I can’t open them.

Luckily, most of The Strip is shielded from this by the large buildings, but if you go off a block or two, you will get it in the face.

I remember some years ago when I drove from LA to Vegas, we got caught in a sandstorm while here.

When we got back, our all-white car had an orange film, and the air filter and oil had to be changed because it was clogged up and nasty.

We could actually see it coming over the horizon before it arrived. A big orange haze began moving toward us, and really looked nasty from a distance. We were debating on whether or not it was rain. Now we are in it, and it’s not rain.

This is another thing we get with our “dry heat”.

Sandblasted.

The only thing that “cools us off”, if you consider 99 degrees “cool”, is wind.

But it’s dryyyyyyyyy heat!

Eat me.

Here’s a video of the wind, which arrived about an hour before the sand:
