I set my alarm for 4:45am, and headed out at first light.
Why?
To buy coffee from scantily clad women, of course. What other legitimate reason could there be for getting up so early?
And it was soooo worth it.
I pulled up to the brand-monkey-spanking new Sexxpresso coffee stand, and the first thing I noticed was a woman in a garter standing outside talking to co-founders Dennis Morrison and Massimo Catinella.
I spoke with Dennis and Massimo for a bit, who by the way are extremely nice guys, and they told me that they are launching the stand under the radar for a couple of weeks. They are still hiring, training, and working on a public opening … so this a very “soft” opening (though I was anything but soft for the 20 minutes or so that I was there).
There were three girls staffing the stand when I got there at around 5:45 or so, and I got to chat with all of them.
There was a guy from a local magazine there as well snapping shots, and we were both laughing and having a good time checking the place out. He was as happy to see this place as I was.
The girls were incredibly nice, cheerful, and more than accommodating when we asked to take some shots of them. You could tell they got the vibe of the place. Flirty and not too serious. They didn’t treat me like a pervert. They were having fun with it.
When the place fully opens, the girls probably aren’t going to be able to come outside and pose for pictures, but the eye candy through the drive up window is more than enough to jump start your day.
I dig the concept of this place.
No offense, but most of the local coffee joints are nondescript, hippy-dippy, save the rain forest, faceless, boring, and status-quo. If you’ve seen one, you’ve damn well seen them all.
I always like it when someone comes up with a creative idea that kind of breaks out of the routine. Especially for Vegas. Especially when it involves scantily clad women.
This place is next to the UNLV campus, and will probably get a lot of business from the school, but I think it will become a bona-fide tourist attraction as well. It’s pretty close to The Strip. I timed it, and it took me 5 minutes to drive there, including stoplights. It is exactly 1 mile from the intersection of Flamingo and Las Vegas Boulevard (according to my odometer). Head east on Flamingo, get in the left lane once you cross Paradise Rd., and it will be about 600 yards on your left.
I hope they are successful. These ventures are a bit risky, which is why few people take the risk. But if places like this are duly rewarded, and thrive, then we’ll likely see more out of the box (no pun intended) ideas pop up (again, no pun intended).
Oh yeah, the coffee …
They have a unique menu, and I wasn’t sure how to order. The girl (blast!, I forgot her name, sorry!) asked me what I liked. I told her that I liked anything Vanilla flavored, and she suggested a “Sensual Mix”.” Sounds good”, I said. She grinned coyly and asked “Would you like that in a Double D Cup?”
“Well, yes … yes I would.” was my reply.
As I drank the latte on my drive home, I was surprised that the coffee was actually great. I thought they would skimp on the beverage due to the novelty factor, but it was easily as good as anything I have gotten at the boutique shops. Possibly better, because it tasted like she put an extra shot of vanilla in the drink, and this made it very tasty.
I also spotted a truck pulling up to the drive-thru window as I was pulling out of the parking lot, and several people slowing down and looking over to see what was going on. So soft opening or not, I think they are going to be getting some business today.
I will definitely be back.
At least I will know what to say.
“Sensual Mix in a Double D Cup, please”
And then I will ogle while they make it.
Really, what more could you ask for?
