The Last Remaining Sigma Derby

MGM Sigma Derby

MGM Sigma Derby

At least it will be in 15 days.

I was at the MGM Grand last night, and this was the action at the machine at about midnight.

The video of a race is below.

All of you Derby-lovers better send lots of nice cards and letters to the MGM begging them to keep the machine, because this is all that’s left folks.

You can see how much floor real estate it takes up, and I am not sure those 8 people pumping quarters into it are making the MGM nearly as much money as a bank of slot machines would … so somebody needs to get a “Don’t Send the Mechanical Horses to the Glue Factory” petition started.

Wow was THAT exciting, but I guess it’s about as exciting as playing in a slot tournement. I guess it’s a way to kill time while you SO is off finding a bathroom to wash their hands.

I love these goddamn games. This is a different machine than the one that used to be in the MGM. It looks newer.

My wife and I used to just walk from one Sigma Derby to the next, Caesars, Imperial Palace, Bally’s, MGM, NYNY, Excalibur, and Luxor. Each trip there would be another one missing. I imagine it’s like when you grow really old and all of your friends start dying, one by one…. Thanks Vegas for preparing me for the future…
