In yet another sign that political correctness is against the ropes and in danger of going the way of leg-warmers and music videos on MTV … MGM-Mirage Chairman delivered a surprisingly candid assessment of the NBA All-Star Weekend.
He even blamed the All-Star Game for MGM’s lower profits this quarter.
Among other things, Terri Lanni said:
“[The NBA crowd] did little gambling during the four-day weekend, Feb. 16-19, disrupted regular hotel and casino operations and kept other customers from venturing into the company’s 10 Strip resorts.”
“They came for purposes other than attending the game and they weren’t very good for Las Vegas,” Lanni said. MGM Mirage operates such properties as Bellagio, MGM Grand, The Mirage, Treasure Island and Mandalay Bay.”
“[The All-Star Crowd] were “gang-bangers.”
“In talking to our casino hosts, a number of people stayed in their villas and suites. They felt uncomfortable,” he said.
“Mr. Stern can keep his basketball franchises out of Las Vegas as far as I’m concerned,” Lanni said
Wow.
Is it possible that Politically Correct Newspeak may be wiped out in our lifetime?

I agree that it would be two completely different crowds. You don’t have all the stars of the league in one location so you won’t have the posse problem.

I do not know, and neither do I care. I was invited there for several months before agreeing to sign up. I thought the dude who ran it was a good guy, he was a Vegas local, and I linked to him from this site and sent about a dozen users over to him.
They banned some other people today by changing their passwords instead of marking them as “banned”.
I guess they are clearing out the undesirables.
It’s his own thing and his decisions are none of my business.
There does not exist a “Vegas” site that I have not been banned from.
I wouldn’t want to be registered at a site that would have me as a member anyway.

How stupid would someone have to be to ban VegasRex of all people from a Vegas site. His presence is what keeps many people hanging around and it lends credibility to being a real Vegas site.
